Youree Biotechnology Co., Ltd. has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with JINCHI Biotech Co., Ltd., China’s largest giant salamander industry group, to develop and commercialize bioactive ingredients derived from the Chinese giant salamander (Andrias davidianus) for the cosmetics industry.
Dubbed a “living fossil,” the 250-million-year-old amphibian is a protected national treasure of China. Its skin contains hydrolyzed collagen and oligosaccharide peptides that show strong anti-aging and skin-repair properties.
JINCHI Biotech recently became the first company to secure NMPA registration for a giant salamander-derived cosmetic raw material—”Hydrolyzed Giant Salamander Skin Mucus”—developed through enzymatic extraction technology. The core component, giant salamander glycopeptide, features high polysaccharide content and demonstrated antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits.
The partnership combines JINCHI’s decade-plus research and cultivation expertise with Youree’s ingredient commercialization capabilities. Both companies aim to accelerate the development of new cosmetic applications and bring China’s unique biological resources to international markets, while adhering to sustainable “protection through development” practices in the Zhangjiajie conservation region.
